What are the requirements for opening a child care center?

child care
Ams asked:

I am in Orlando FL and am considering opening a day care center. My church can rent me the space during the week. I am CPR certified and so is my Aunt who would be doing this with me. I was wondering what other requirements there are. Licenses, permits…. etc. Just whatever you can think of that I may not be thinking about.

Thanks in advance for your help:)

Your best bet is to get on to your State’s website and download the licensing requirements for a day care center. It will be a good starting point for you. In MI, the director is required to have specific training, besides CPR certified…so before you get along too far…please read through your licensing requirements. :-)

Check with your local state and/or city requirements. Every state is different. There are requirements as to how much space you have to have per child, sleeping arrangements, meals, how many children per teacher, exits, etc. The fire dept also has certain requirements. Check your telephone directory for the phone numbers of the departments or agencies you’ll need to contact to get this info. Look in the government section of your phone book.

Contact me if you want any info on conducting your daycare. (See souarces, below)
    Good luck

That is the site for your state’s licensing regs. Check it out and see what you need to do. Good luck.
