How much do you pay weekly for child care?

child care
keisha_joel asked:

I am looking for a babysitter for only 2 nights a week and for 3 hours only, but I have no idea how much the normal rate is. How much do you pay and for how many hours a week do they watch your child(ren)?

I know a girl here at work that is paying $120 a week for all day all week(4 year old)…but I also know a girl that is paying $400 a week all day all week for a 2 year old and an infant.

So it totally depends on the place you’re going to …All places are different…

Whats more important is the safety and reliability of the place and it’s staff.

I pay $100 per week for a my full-time babysitter. She keeps my 2 y/o in her home from 8am to about 4:30pm.

Depending on who you get to watch your child in the evening, the rates may vary. The older the person, the more money they will expect. A high school student will probably do the job for $20-$25 per night. Maybe less. I work with a woman who tells me that her daughter gets $5 or $6 an hour.

I admit that I offer $10 per hour when I need an evening babysitter because I normally only need someone for an hour or so, and as an adult, I figure its not worth the effort for someone to come over for $5 or $10.

    I live in SC.

Well i get help from DSHS (I live in WA). My monthly copay is only 139. That’s it. That’s all I pay. If I didn’t have help from DSHS, I’d be broke. The daycare my daughter goes to charges $250 a week.

I pay around $1.75 per child per hour, but finding evening child care is REALLY difficult.
    Good luck.
