Child care nowadays is considered as one of the in demand professions. Different institutions are putting their heads together to give the children their needs in educational and parental aspects. This service is significant to the parents and for the welfare of the children so it is necessary to improve on some safety standards to achieve better child care services.

Statistics of Child Care Business
Based on statistics, the child care business industry is continuously growing and most of the players are categorized as small business. These small time businesses operate in their homes. According the Bureau of US Census, about 70 percent are home-based and 17 percent are using the services of their neighbourhood. Some of the major players in this industry are: La Petite and National Childcare Academies, Gerber, and Kinder-Care.

Laws and Regulations
Recently, rules and regulations were imposed to lessen the occurrence of injuries of babies. The government and parents had joined forces to formulate child safety law that must be strictly followed. One of the components of the law is that daycare must provide a setting of a home. It is a requirement for the child care providers to take their trainings first before operating their business. Their facilities must be visited and checked on a regular basis by the authorities with group of concerned parents in the local neighbourhood. The US law do not allow single provider in admitting more than six children.

Child Injuries
Safety statistics showed that there were exactly 56 casualties in the daycare setting from the years 1990 to 1997, and about half of these fatalities were due to Asphyxia. In 1997, some 31,000 children were reportedly hospitalized due to injuries in relation to child care setting. In recent study of the Society of Pediatrics and Center for the Control of Disease (PSPCCD), disclosed that playgrounds posed as the biggest hazards to the health of a child. This study focused on facilities of federal institutions, private institutes and small businesses. It is hazardous for children to be: in unsafe cribs; on a poor maintained and hard surfaced playgrounds; extra soft beddings; and the absence of safety gadgets.

Safety Measures
It is recommended by professionals to avoid using furniture which can cause accidents to the child. Any elevated unguarded surfaces should be protected and these include stairs. Areas like pools and the main holes, considered as "fall zones", must be properly guarded because these are significant threats to the welfare of the child. Facilities of the child care must be size and age appropriate for the children.

Other hazardous things, like wires, must be immediately removed to secure the area from accidents. Any electrical appliances are also hazardous because children are fun of putting their fingers or even things in the wall sockets. Therefore, it is required for the provider to secure those openings. Playground equipment must be checked and large swings and slides must be avoided. Stuffed toys must be handled with caution because these can suffocate a very young or small child. It is best to avoid disasters if you have a hundred percent attention and common sense.

By: John F Smith

About the Guest Author:

Child care centers and services provide care and supervision to minors usually under the age of five. Caring for kids is provided and met in different ways and these include care at their home or babysitting, in an organized child care center, and in a provider's home. Other centers & services involving older kids are provided by after school and summer school programs, among others.

There are two main types of services:

center-based and family-based which are provided by persons paid to do these jobs such as pre-school teachers, nannies or babysitters caregivers
These centers and services provide care to kids during the day when their parents or legal guardians are working. There are different types of center and services, and these include:

center-based or group such as day care centers or pre-schools family in-home or nanny relative The most common and convenient service is babysitting which is an occasional temporary care during the absence of the child's parents. If the kid is at least three years old, many parents enroll them in pre-schools or in day care centers. However there are also several day care centers that admit infants and toddlers ages one and two especially in centers and services provided by the parent's company or within the building of a parent's working place.

Child care in the United States can be traced back in the 19th century when welfare and reform movements started. Day care started as nurseries that took care of the immigrant and working-class children. These early nurseries provided childcare for kids of working wives and widows of merchant seamen who were considered to be the economically deprived and disadvantaged members of the society. The organizations were established to help working parents take care of their kids as well as prevent young children from roaming the streets.

The nurseries of the 19th century evolved into the modern day care centers which now caters to thousands of children whose parents are both busy to take care of them during daytime. There are different types of places provided by the government and private establishments. When choosing one for your children, you must choose quality care that can help him or her to develop a strong mind, body and spirit. Aside from this, you need to consider the following factors:

provides training group size and child to staff ratio health and nutrition - food and drinks provided by the center safety - includes study and play areas parent and child care center communication a well developed program - includes learning and development activities partnerships with other child care organizations and agencies Whatever kind of care you may want to provide for your child, just make sure that the place you will be using has a license to operate and is within reach from your office and home.

By: Ashley Conner

About the Guest Author:

Child care is seen by many as one of the most respected and equally demanding professions. It is now a multi-million industry that spans a network of day care centers, kinder garden, franchise and large corporations. All of the institutions are working together to provide children with their parental and educational needs. With such a delicate duty, it is vital for the industry professionals to improve on the existing safety standards in the child care industry.

Statistics

Statistics reveal that the fastest growing sector in the child care industry is the many small businesses. These entities mostly operate from homes. According to US Census Bureau, nearly 70 percent of the child care related businesses are home based. A whopping 17 percent of the Moms are using the services of the neighborhood child care centers for their pre-school children. Kinder-Care, La Petite Academy, National Childcare Academy and Gerber products are some of the few big names of the industry.

Laws & Regulations

Recent rulings have deployed stringent rules in order to curb the risk of injuries to babies. Governments and parents have come together to create child safety laws, not only for the establishments but for parents too. These laws strss that the daycare should provide a home like setting. Licensed providers are required to take trainings before dealing with child care. The facilities should be regularly visited by the authorities and a group of parents from the local neighborhoods. The US laws restrict a single provider to take care of more than 6 children. On the other hand, parents are obliged to put their child in the day care center in their own community, except for mothers working full-time.

Child Injuries

Childcare safety statistics reveal the fact that there were 56 casualties in the daycare settings from 1990 to 1997. Almost half of these deaths were caused due to Asphyxia. In 1997 alone, over 31,000 children were hospitalized due to the injuries related to a child care setting. A recent study by the Society of pediatrics and Center for the control of disease focused on facilities that included federal institutions, private institutes and small businesses. The study found that the playgrounds posed the biggest hazard to a child.

. The most hazardous conditions included the use of unsafe cribs, poor maintenance and hard surface of the playground, very soft bedding and absence of the safety gates.

Safety Measures

Professionals recommend avoiding the use of furniture that can entrap the child's head or other part of the body. Any elevated surface that is not guarded should also be sealed off. Such surface also includes stairs. Similarly, fall-zones such as swimming pools and main holes provide a significant threat to the well being of a child. The design of the intended child care product should match the age and size of the children. Day care centers should ensure that they have the proper inventory for all the ages of the child, they admit.

Tripping hazards such as wires should immediately be removed from the premises. These also include any electrical appliance. Children have the natural tendency to poke their fingers in the wall sockets. It is mandatory for a child care center to seal off such openings. All components are to be avoided that can crush or bruise body tissues. Playground equipment should be inspected and any large swings or slides, to be removed. Stuff toys which can suffocate a small child are also a problem. In short, the best remedy for avoiding a disaster is acute attention and a common sense.

By: Gary Pearson

About the Guest Author:

Hence you have got to choose one from these innumerate options put forth. But with a proper analysis and research it can be done easily. Sometimes doing the trial and error will also help in deciding the best for your child. The one best suiting your child's nature must be chosen.

The most popular ones are the institutional child care in the US. These are open for children in the age group of six and above. They even take care of them in their school years. The expense in these day care centers is moderate when compared to the extremities in private and in home concerns. The cost is in accordance with the age and the period of stay. The fee must be paid every week irrespective of the count of days the child is present. Thus they provide the child with all facilities and teach them all basic lessons and math.

The classrooms are segregated on the basis of age. The classrooms with different age groups of students have one or more staffs as in charge to that particular class. The important factor is the child to staff ratio this goes in accordance with the licensing agreement of state. So it varies for different institutions not exceeding the guidelines. The care time starts before the children arrive and even few hours after they leave. They are fed lunch and breakfast. Play time and time for naps are also provided in the afternoon. Group activities for every age group of children are set for the whole day and there are specific times allotted for field trips, holiday activity and independent play. They are taught potty training and self feeding. For the preschool kids, basic skills like identify colors, letters and shapes, count and write their names.

Sending children to these institutions is beneficial in many aspects. They can easily adjust to the classroom atmosphere after these preschool care centers. They even get the mental strength to bare few situations in the absence of their parents. They get to all sorts of emergencies. The staffs working in such centers are trained to react appropriately to medical emergencies along with psychology and child development. Apart from these there are certain disadvantages also. They lack individual attention due to the large range of class strength and especially for children who badly need such intense care and affection. So such behavioral problems occur and it affects the children.

A good child care centre will let the parents come in and see their job to give them the trust and hope with their organization. Some concerns will also let parents to spend time with their children for the first two or three days. Thus the parents will find their child's comfort in the new atmosphere and can happily leave it to them in their absence. Thus most importantly a good child care centre must be chosen.

By: Abhishek Agarwal

About the Guest Author:

One of the first steps that you must take before you start a child care center is to come up with an appropriate name. A great child care center name, in hand with well designed logo will make up the foundation for how your company will represent itself in the market place. Your name will help you to create a brand image in the communities that you serve and a lot can be gained by developing a brand that people know and trust. Here are some ideas for naming your child care business.

Don't limit the future potential of your daycare too much by including too many specific details in a name such as the area that you operate within or the precise services that you provide. This can make it hard for you to change the direction of your business in the future if you ever wish to do so. On the other hand it is a good idea to communicate through your name the kind of business that you are in, so including the words 'daycare' or 'child care' can help to clarify this to people.

Try to avoid using your personal name, as the business owner, as part of the title. Think of names that are catchy, warm, inviting and maybe even cute or humorous. The children that attend your child care center will be spending a lot of time there so why not choose something that appeals to them. You could even go as far as to involve children that you know in the naming process. Make it a competition and ask for their ideas and you may be surprised at what they come up with.

Originality is important for several reason. Firstly you want to have a name that distinguishes you from your competitors and other local businesses. Make it unique to stand out in the market and to avoid customer confusion. Secondly, you should make sure that your selection is not trademarked for use by any other company before you decide to go ahead with it. Doing a name search is critical here so that you don't end up facing legal action further down the line. Do your own search first by looking in your local Yellow Pages and online. Once you think you have a name that is unique you can then double check by doing a formal name search at your county or city clerks office.

As a website will most probably come to be a key part of the marketing strategy for your child care center you should also make sure that a suitable domain name is available for registration.

Good names should be memorable and easy to pronounce. Come up with a short list of your favorites and then run them by friends and family. Get their opinions and then check back with them in a few days to see which ones they remembered and if they were able to pronounce them correctly.

Once you have gone ahead with a name and get your child care center started it can be nearly impossible to change. Not only will you have to change your stationary and other branded business materials but you will also lose some of the reputation that can be built up in a name over time. Make it easy on yourself and your business by coming up with a great child care center name right from the start.

By: Sienna Brown

About the Guest Author:

Child care studies have counted on numerical analysis of Natural disparity rather than doing experiments and particular treatments. Child care studies are concerned about identifying the connection between child, families and care. Child care centers differ from pre-school in the sense that their primary goal is to enable parents to work and pursue other activities. Babies and children are kept in child care centers while the parents work. Child care is not only provided by the child care centers but family day care homes, relatives, neighbors and nannies as well.

They are focused about the effects of distinctive programs on the common people. Now that educational study has increased its involvement with socio-emotional development and impending adverse effects, the field with extended boundaries has entered the world of cognitive growth.

Several studies have revealed that child care for young ones produce adverse effects especially for infants and toddlers. Children at times fail to have mother-baby bond and are observed to be aggressive in society. However all these evidences have also projected that these characteristics do not prevail for much time.

It was believed that child care centers influence child's development adversely until NICHD was conducted. NICHD has a sample of approx 1300 children around 10 sites. Media reports, from a conference paper signified that new outcomes have challenged the earlier work and the analysis of most specialists that child care was not harmful for children's socio-emotional growth. However it was believed that such consequences are observed among children who spend more than 30 hours per week in child care centers. Therefore it can be concluded to avoid adverse behavior development, it is necessary for the preschoolers to manage day care timings according to the tolerance of the child.

Although NICHD wasn't something new but it provided significant evidences that adequate non-parental care for maximum 30 hours per week plays a vital role in brood's development. It helps in language improvement, confidence enhancement and effective learning attitude of the child.

A follow-up of the Quality, Cost and outcomes research examined the influence of childcare classroom value. This research was conducted over 700 children in 4 states from ages 4-8. It revealed that children who attended high quality classrooms and were taught in excellent environments had secured higher grades on the quick IQ test of Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised (PPVT-R).

Although short-term education intervention and early care have been found to develop cognitive abilities in young children however some critics have concluded that such characteristics normally turndown overtime and are insignificant several years after children leave the programs. This model has led some to believe that intensive pre-school plans create no eternal effect on cognitive development.

By: Ahsan Ayub

About the Guest Author:

The child care industry in the Untied States is very large. Many parents and guardians need to leave their children at day care facilities because they spend the entire day at work. Children who are too young to go to school then have to wait for their parents at day care facilities.

For the most part, the child care industry in the United States is very good. Children are usually taken care of well. There is enough supervision. Children are kept in a disciplined environment. They are given enough food and drink to sustain themselves and even maintain their health. And for the most part, parents do not worry about their children's safety when they drop them off to day care in the morning. They do not expect that something will be wrong at the end of the day, or that they will be called in the middle of the day from the workers are the daycare informing them about something that went wrong at the facility, something that affected their children.

Unfortunately, however, there are times when these exact things happen. Parents may come to pick their children up at the end of the day and realize that their children have been injured or hurt. Parents may have to rush from work to the child care facility to check up on their children. Or worse, they may have to leave work in the middle of the day and rush to a hospital where their children have been taken.

Daycare centers are not perfect. As a result, mistakes do occur. Neglect does occur. But when workers at a daycare fail to perform their duties--when they fail to provide proper supervision of the children and thus neglect them--a lot bad things can occur. Children may fall into a pool and drown. They may choke on a small object that they placed in their mouth. They may place a plastic bag over their heads and suffocate. They may put something chemically dangerous into their mouths. They may get electrocuted. Children may not be given enough food and water. Their complaints of sickness may be ignored. These things can occur at child care facilities because of neglect, and there is not excuse for such calamities leading to injury to or death of a child.

Parents have a right to think that their children will be safe at child care centers, for they are paying the facilities to take care of their children. For more information about neglect at child care facilities and centers, visit the website of Milwaukee personal injury attorneys and lawyers of Habush, Habush, & Rottier, S.C. by visiting their website [http://www.habush.com/contact.php].

By: Joseph Devine

About the Guest Author:

For those interested in working with children, a career in childcare might be a natural fit. There are many different types of jobs available in the child care industry. These range from private household workers to family care providers to daycare workers.

Private household workers refer to hourly employees who work inside of the parents' home. They are also called baby-sitters (when they work for several families) or nannies (when they work primarily with one family). Private child care workers are responsible for ensuring the daily well-being of the infant or child. In addition, they sometimes provide housekeeping duties as a part of their job. There are no licensing requirements or legal standards for private child care workers.

In contrast, both family care providers and daycare workers are subject to strict state requirements. Immunization, background checks, and training are usually required. Workers might fulfill their training by earning a national credential like the Child Development Associate or by completing a state credential. Because family care providers work out of their own homes, they face tough licensing requirements. Daycare workers are usually employed in a child care facility run by a public organization, like a school, or private organization, like a business or private employer.

All daycare workers get to enjoy the benefits of helping children grow and learn on a daily basis. While working with children can often be challenging, the rewards are great, making this industry a wonderful choice for those who have a love of children and education.

By: Joseph Stutzman

About the Guest Author:

For parents of children 12 and under, the child care tax deduction can be a life saver to working parents. Parents should become familiar with the tax information regarding the child care tax deduction. If they aren't sure what to do, there are many tax professionals which can offer tax advice on how to claim this deduction. All of this can help them when it comes time to file taxes online.

The first thing a parent has to know is the criteria for the child care deduction. The criteria are as follows:

-- The child must be 12 years old or younger. If the child is 13 or older, you must show that the child is either physically and/or mentally unable to care for themselves. If the child is 13 and up and is mentally or physically disabled, you may also deduct adult daycare expenses.

--You must provide a home for the child or adult dependent by paying over half the expenses for the maintenance of the home for the dependent. You can not deduct child care or dependent care for a person that does not live with you. The childcare provider you employ can not be another dependent. This means that if your older children watch your younger children, this can be not be used for the child care deduction unless they are 19 years old or over and no longer qualify as a dependent.

--Your child care provider has to give you their name or business name if there is one, an address, and a Social Security or Employer Identification Number. This information will be reported on your 2441 form so that you can claim the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit.

Parents have other deductions that they can claim on their taxes online or on paper. There is the Child Tax Credit, which can be up to $1,000 per qualified child. A child qualifies if the child's living expenses are paid by the parent for more then one half of the year and the child is not being claimed by anyone else. The child must also be 16 or younger by the end of the year to qualify as a dependent.

Another deduction for parents is the Earned Income Tax Credit. It was designed to help lower income families with their day to day expenses. If you need tax advice on how to claim this credit, you can check out the IRS website or contact a tax professional.

Checking yearly for changes in tax laws is always a good thing to start with, as there may be new deductions to help struggling families with their taxes.

Many people opt to buy tax preparation software to help them file their taxes. The programs walk the taxpayer through the filing process, asking them questions and using their answers to determine what they qualify for. If you are unfamiliar with how best to fill out your taxes, it might be worth buying one of these programs.
